guest this month will be Brianna Lawrence from the Jersey City Office
Of Innovation. She will be presenting and discussing programs that can
assist small businesses and improve commercial thoroughfares such as
Palisade Ave and Central Ave. We will also provide
updates on the Gazebo rebuild project, the Riverview Park renovation,
and a possible development project on lower New York Ave/Ravine Rd, as
well as other activities in the neighborhood. All are encouraged and welcome to attend. As a reminder, we don't meet in August.
|Funding Opportunities And Other Resources For New and Existing Small Businesses In The Heights
Brianna Lawrence from the Office Of Innovation
will be discussing and reviewing funding options and other resources for
new and existing small businesses, including information portals and
loan programs aimed to help small business owners make improvements to
their retail and commercial establishments.
Here is one of the programs for existing
businesses that she will be reviewing and answering questions about at
Small Business Investors Fund Forgivable Loan
- Loan Amounts: $5,000-$10,000
- Term: 1-3 years
- Interest rate: 3%
- Application Fee: $100
- Requires collateral? No, but having it improves the applicant's chance of receiving a loan.
- Eligible Uses for Loan Funds:
- Inventory and/or supplies
- Property renovations and rehabilitation (including storefronts and interior improvements)
- Rent or other facility costs
1/3 of the Loan Principal will be forgiven as long
as business remains in operation for the duration of the loan and
employs Jersey City residents

Development Project For 39 New York Ave
possible development project is being proposed for 39 New York
Ave/Ravine Rd. RNA was informed that Hoboken Brownstone Co will
likely be proposing a 158 unit 5 story project to the JC planning
department and Planning Board for one of the lots they own on lower New
York Ave. At the meeting, We will discuss what we know so far and
the potential impact to the Palisades Protection Overlay District.
Additionally, RNA will be forming a committee to assess these
plans and proposals. If you would like to participate in this committee

|Next Lumberyard Show - June 24th!
Continuing our 4th season of outdoor concerts,
Live at the Lumberyard returns on Friday, July 22nd at 7PM (rain date
6/25). The Sensational Country Blues Wonders will kick off the
evening, followed by GMJ Groove, and headlining the evening is Latin
Jazz singer Rebecca Vallejo.
Local DJ Austin Hoyt will spin
between sets and video art will be projected on the garage doors. Three
food trucks will be present as well.

The gazebo rebuild project bid was awarded at
the June city council meeting. The pre-construction meeting will be held
in mid July, we expect demolition and construction to begin soon after.
We'll post all notices and status updates to social media and
also include them in our "weekend update" email blasts.
|119 Bus Now 24/6 - New Schedule
NJ Transit has activated the planned service
expansion of the 119 bus to 24 hours a day from Monday to Saturday.
We encourage all Heights residents to utilize this expanded bus
service and help get the word out. Here is a link to the new Schedule:
