At this meeting, we will hear from Mo Kinberg and Sammy Ocasio.

Mo Kinberg, New Jersey Future Community Outreach Manager and Sewage-Free Streets and Rivers campaign ( will present on what is being done in Jersey City to address flooding and combined sewer system issues. Twenty one cities, including Jersey City, are developing plans to reduce the amount of raw sewage dumped into our waterways, caused by having a combined sewer overflows (CSOs). These plans will be costly and will be paid for primarily by rate payers. Find out about the community engagement process to remedy CSO's and flooding issues, and the solutions being evaluated like green infrastructure.

Sammy Ocasio, who is Jersey City's Director of Parks and Forestry, will discuss the upcoming renovation to Riverview Park and take questions and concerns.

Zoning Board of Adjustment Approves Proposed 10 Unit Development at 268 New York Ave

The Zoning Board of Adjustment unanimously approved a 10 unit development at 268 New York Avenue on January 10th. The developer still has not decided whether the project will be a condo or a rental project. The project will have 10 ground floor parking spaces and green elements such as a green roof and subterranean water detention tank.

The developer, along with his attorney and architect, previously appeared at a special meeting on January 3rd and presented the project to the RNA membership.  After discussing the matter and asking questions, the RNA membership voted to oppose the project, unless the developer created affordable and/or artist live-work units.

Update on RNA Board of Directors for 2019

Our annual election for the RNA board of directors was held on Tuesday, December 11th.  Because no one sought the nomination for vice president, the board is proudly nominating Danielle Thomas to serve in that capacity, pending a vote of approval by the membership. Danielle's experience in event planning and serving as an attorney will greatly assist the neighborhood as we continue to review new development projects  and plan community events that are enriching and cost free events for everyone to participate in.

The RNA board members for 2019 are:

Roger Heitmann - Treasurer
